It is quite clear to me that the settlements at Dubuque, Iowa and at
Burlington, Wisconsin are closely connected. Ducketts, Gadds and others went
to Burlington in 1846, 1847 & 1853. I suspect that those ships also had
passengers destined for Dubuque. Joseph Collins Gadd and his wife Sarah
(Duckett) returned to the Wedmore area on several occasions, to promote
emigration. Joseph died on board ship returning from the last trip, which
was in April 1882. Other names I know are Heath and Toomer. I also have an
Edward and Sarah Duckett going to Dubuque in 1866 starting on 6th. March,
and a Popham family in 1881.  Elaine, if we have your Wall family right then
Edward and Sarah Duckett are closely related to them by marriage. Mathew
