Hi Matthew, Christ Church, Theale, was built as a chapel of ease in 1826, to
save the churchgoers of Theale, Bagley and Panborough walking into Wedmore.
According to Somerset Archives Theale was formed from Wedmore in 1844, but this
seems to refer to the Theale Marriage Register, which starts 12th. Nov. 1844,
and the entry is Theale in the Parish of Wedmore until 1st. Nov. 1860. The
baptism register starts on 23rd. January 1828, and Burials on 1st. October 1828.
The Historic Parishes of England & Wales does not list Theale as a separate
parish in 1851.
