Living on Cheddar Road they most likely attended the Board School (opened in
1879), the first state school in Wedmore, also on the Cheddar Road. If much
later they made it to secondary school they would have gone to Sexey's, in
Blackford itself, which opened in 1899. Hazel Hudson's books give more
details. There are records of both schools, including punishments meted out
to my uncle for inattention and excessive devotion to soccer!
