Hello, I'm a "new girl", doing a spot of research for my soon to be
son-in-law (wedding in August).

I have tracked his GG grandparents down to Chapel Allerton in the 1881
census, - Charles and Harriet (nee Spearing) Clapp. I am awaiting
certificates for Charles Clapp's birth (1838), Harriet Spearing's birth
(1845), and her first marriage to George Clapp. I don't yet know what/if
relationship Charles Clapp and George Clapp had.

At the moment, I am interested in the Spearings, who seem to be a milling
family. I have a Simon Spearing (from Wookey) who married a Mary Wilkins in
Meare - she is described as being a "sojourner in the parish" c 1800 - and I
think these two may be ancestors of Harriet.

Many of the family seem to have Wedmore connections.

I would be grateful for any information about the Spearings - they seem to
be an interesting family. Clapps too if possible.

Many thanks.

Susan
