Hi Susan

I am a descendant of one of the Wedmore Clapps; it seems likely that Charles
Clapp and George Clapp were the brothers, sons of Charles and Ann Clapp of
Stoughton near Wedmore; George was baptised as George Brown Clapp in 1835,
and by 1871 had a wife Emma; they had daughters Harriett and Hannah baptised
in Wedmore 1871; George was farming in Stoughton.Presumably Emma died and he
married Harriett Spearing. George's grandfather was Jacob Clapp of Allerton
(near Stoughton). "My" Clapps are Mary bap 1695 who married JohnWall; her
parents were John Clapp and Maria Hatch, and John descends ultimately via 2
other Johns from the John who married Joanna Tutton in 1576.

Good luck with your own searches!

Tim
