Question to Tim, who is George Brown Duckett ? I don't have him.
Just to confuse you Anna Duckett nee Clapp was my maternal grandmother.
I can confirm that Mary Spearing was the housekeeper in question, she did
not marry John Comer until 1886 (2nd wife).
The children of John and Anna Spearing were,
Simon, Bap. Blackford 1840, Bur. Wedmore 1841.
Mary, Bap. Blackford 1842, Bur. Chapel Allerton 1925.
Simon, Bap. Blackford 1843,
Harriet, Bap. Wedmore 1845, Bur. Chapel Allerton 1926. (Father John of Heath
House)
Paul, Bap. Wedmore 1847, (Father John of Heath House)
Joseph, Bap. Wedmore 1849, (Father John of Heath House)
John, Bap. Wedmore 1852, (Father John of Watchfield)
Elizabeth, Bap, Wedmore 1856, Bur. Hereford ? ( Father John of Burnham)
This can be used to trace John around the mills of north Somerset. The story
is that the four sons all had a mill. This is confirmed by The book by
Coultard & Watts.
Can any one help me with Elizabeth? Possibly known as Libby. My information
comes from photographs, she was in Hereford in the 1880s and later but is
nowhere in the 1881 census ( The Hereford address is vacant). She was
probably unmarried in the early 1890s and certainly lived into her late
fifties.
Next appeal is for information on the family of Harriet Clark nee Clapp
1871-1904. Harriet married Henry Clark circa 1897. One son Darwin born
perhaps 1898, probably Darwin, Australia. One daughter Clarisse died Darwin,
Australia 28/1/1901, a few months old. Henry Clark was probably a shipping
agent. The family returned to Britain in both 1901 and 1903. Harriet died in
Backford probably of diabetes. Darwin Clark is known to have lived in
Australia.
