[WED]Abel Millard

    I found the following pasted inside the back cover of my grandfather's
Bible.  Abel Millard and his wife Mary were residents of Spafford, Onondaga
Co., NY, where my ancestors also lived.  The Millards in the area were
mostly from Wedmore, and I suspect Abel was from there as well.  Somewhere
in my records, I also have Abel and Mary's immigration date if anyone should
need it.  Just let me know.

In affectionate Remembrance of ABEL MILLARD who died October 20, 1885, aged
40 years.

Dear Abel is gone; bow sad and lonely,
    Though on angel's wings he fled,
And evening's zephyrs sighing,
    Sadly whisper, Abel is dead.

The messenger came unexpected,
    And took him so quickly away,
Making my home so lonely;
    It seems I no longer can stay.

Take comfort, stricken Mary
    For your dear husband weep no more
Though in the tomb we have laid him;
    Yet Christ laid there before.
