Hi List,
I'm the cousin Sandi from this e-mail and I have been on the list for =
several years now. We three gals have been sharing information we have =
collected on the three daughters of Hugh and Jane Roper. Kris in Iowa =
descends from Mary Ann ROPER Hole (Richard) Curry (James), Joy in =
California from Jane ROPER Evans (Samuel), and I, in Texas, from =
daughter Betsey ROPER Tincknell (George) Parker (Joseph). These are all =
Somerset folks.

The three ROPER sisters along with their mother, Jane, and brother John =
arrived in Burlington, Racine County, Wisconsin around 1849. The =
daughters along with their husbands and children bought farmland in 1853 =
in Delaware County, Iowa just west of Dyersville. We have just now =
found the probates after the deaths of George (1862), James (1865) & =
Samuel (1872).

My question---was there a census in Somerset in 1831? If so, would =
anyone be willing to look for me to see if there is a Tincknell family =
with a son George who would be abt 8 years old? George gives his age as =
27 in 1850 and 37 in 1860 making him abt 39 at his death and with a =
birth date of 1823. His marriage record at St Mary's gives his father =
as Zebedee Padfield but we have not been able to identify which =
Tincknell family he belonged in. I would be most grateful for any =
assistance with this.
Thank you.
Sandi
