Many thanks Stan - of course Rhodesia and South Africa were not then or ever
the same, altho' I have been citizens of both. By the way, another Wedmorian
also came to grief in colonial disturbances, Joseph Wall bapt. 10.4.1832,
born at Heathouse, son of Joseph (son of Jonathan Wall and Hannah Binning)
and Susanna (nee???) Wall; he died at the Eureka Stockade in Ballarat, Vic.
Australia on 3 Dec 1854, staunchly defending the realm against a rabble of
miners led by some dubious Americans and Irish! My wife and I were at the
150th commemoration of the Stockade in 2004, and defended poor Joseph
against the slurs of some of those in attendance. Does anybody know more
about young Joseph?

Regards to all

Tim
