Hi Sue,
Thank you for the additional info. I've since found a reference to it
in a Bristol paper - it's word for word except for the age of Hannah
which is given as 55. But still nothing about the outcome of the
trial. I too found Sandy CREASE back with his wife in 1861 and as you
say the addition to their family presumably shows that things weren't
too severe.
The ROGERS side of the family seems to be well documented.
In my excitement last evening I gave the wrong relationship - Hannah was
Mike's 2 x great grandmother - He's descended from Hannah's daughter,
Mary Ann, christened 4th Sept 1831. She married Henry HASE at St John's
Church, Bedminster 22nd Oct 1857. She was his 2nd wife and their 1st
son was christened in Axbridge. 8th March 1858. They went on to have a
total of 5 children of whom 3 survived into adult hood including Mike's
grandfather, John Millard HASE. She also raised 3 step children from
Henry's first wife.
William HASE 1858-1931
Selina Hester HASE 1860-1862 (she died of scarlet fever and was named
after Henry's first wife, Selina HARES)
John Millard HASE 1862-1933
Selina HASE 1864-1938
James HASE 1864-1865 (twin to Selina)
Mary Ann herself died in Weston in Jan 1904.
In 1901 William NICHOLLS, the son of Joseph & Elizabeth was staying with
Edwin & Selina COX nee HASE at 8 Greenfield Place, Weston-super-Mare.
Selina and William were 1st cousins.
Cheers
Pat
