Axbridge Petty Sessions

 

Monday (before J. WOLLEN Esq., chairman, Col. LUTTRELL, Capt LAW and Charles
EDWARDS, Esq.,) 

 

 Raid on Bakers - Edward HUNT of Berrow, Henry MERCHANT, William PEARCE,
Amelia MORRIS, and Lydia HODGE all of Burnham, John STINNER of Highbridge;
Thomas SHEPPARD of Mark; Nathaniel DAY, East Brent, Charles BOND, Samuel
Ashby SHELL, and Charles HILLMAN, of Congresbury, William ASH, Burrington;
John BADDEN, Banwell; and Richard MORGAN, Mark TINCKNELL and William HARVEY
of Wedmore, were summoned for selling to Police-constables BARRINGTON,
BICKNELL and OATLEY bread otherwise than by weight. The magistrates
considered all the cases proved, and fined BOND, SHELL, HILLMAN, MERCHANT,
PEARCE, HUNT and Harvey 10s each and costs. Nathaniel DAY 15s and costs;
ASH, BADDEN and SHEPPARD 20s and costs; Lydia HODGE and Mark TINCKNELL 30s
and costs; and John STINNER, Amelia MORRIS and George MORGAN 40s and costs.

 

William GREEN of Cheddar, for stealing turnip greens from a field in the
occupation of William DAY, was fined 5s 6d costs of the greens and expenses.

In the police court on Monday, before the Rev. J.A. YATMAN (chairman),
Colonel LONG, Messrs EDWARDS, SOMERS and HILL. 

 

Henry HIGGS, for riding a wagon without reins at Wedmore was fined 2s 6d and
costs. 

 

Charles WILKINS of Wedmore was fined costs, in respect of the non-attendance
of his child at school.

 

William TINCKNELL for a like offence was fined 6d and costs; and John
Mapstone in respect of two children, 2s and costs.
