There's a Sabra Wilcox baptised in Meare in 1771; she married Edward =
Giblett and of course they had a daughter Sabra in 1795; William Giblett =
had a daughter Sabra bap. in 1837. The Gibletts contributed a =
churchwarden in Mark, so probably knew the Chapmans of Blackford! =
Perhaps Sabra is a variant form of Sarah? - it also has connotations in =
Israel.

I didn't mean to suggest that Philip Chapman was consigned to the =
(infrequent) snows of Wedmore in 1779 - but his new landlord might have =
upped the rent, and he maybe decided to move, maybe to Mark, where there =
are many references to the family in the Slocombe book. Sabra Chapman =
might then have been baptised in Mark in 1780 or so.

One thing still fascinates me, and that is the unusual name "Sabra" =
(I've seen it spelt "Sebra" and "Sebara" also). Does anyone know the =
name's origins, as I've never seen it used anywhere else? My mother =
used to think that it may have been a mis-spelt version of "Zebra", but =
that doesn't seem right somehow. It has occurred to me, however, that =
it may have been a gross mis-spelling of the name "Zipporah" (especially =
as my husband's GGG Grandmother had the second name "Meatabo", which was =
a gloriously phonetic Devonshire mis-spelling of the name "Mehitabel"!).
  =20
  Cheers!
